Research- Southern Living

Another magazine that I have used is Southern Living. It is a thanksgiving edition. The cover feels very comforting, it has a slice of a pecan pie on the front, with warm colors covering the whole front. Some of the articles that are included have to do with; Home & Garden, Beauty and Style, Travel and Culture, and it also contains recipes. The magazine has 2 table of contents one for articles and one for recipes. The images on the regular table on contents are setup and furniture ideas, where on the recipe side there is an image of food. All of the articles appear on the left pages and if the article continues it wills kip over the right side of the page and then will continue on the next left page. mos tof the articles appear ion the beginning and towards the end there is less writing and more ads. there are multiple pages in between articles in the back were towards the front of the article there is only maybe one ad in between the articles or recipes. The advertisements show up on the first 3 pages before the table of contents. The rest of the ads show up on the right pages with the articles on the left. the distribution number is about 600,000.This magazine hasn't won any awards but thy do give out other awards to people or places for certain things like best furniture and those sots of things.

Research- Clean Eating

I am using magazines to get an idea of how I want to set up my cover, and the first magazine that Im going to is called Clean Eating. The thing that drew me to this magazine was how bright the cover is. the food in the background is a really good representation of "clean eating" and it makes me want to have a healthier diet, and if I were to have a healthy diet magazine that's something i would want to make sure people would feel the same just by looking at the cover. There are very bright font colors like blue and pink and the magazine title is in black and it was easy to see. the table of contents appears when you open the cover. It has images of food on both of the pages and there were page numbers o the pictures to show where you can find them. Then there are 5 main sections previewed in this magazine; Super Savings Section, be inspired, eat smart, weight loss, and how to. These different articles in the sections are scattered throughout the magazine and the table of contents just organizes the articled under each section to make it easier to find. Most of the advertisements occur during the beginning pages. There are a few scattered in the back. Most of the add pages take up the whole page or some share a page but the whole page is still taken up with he ads. The Monthly distribution number for this magazine is 221000. This magazine hasn't won any awards but they do give out something called the Clean Choice Awards that s given to the top products that they feel are the best for people.

Project Choice

I have decided to create a magazine for my project. I feel that between the two options that creating a magazine is in my best interest and I feel I will have a better out come. A huge part of the film project would be acting and producing a film which is something that doesn't interest me as much. Where in a magazine its more of designing and photographs, and writing. Writing may not be my strength but its still something I enjoy so I would work on improving my writing skills. In my magazine I would possibly like to write a magazine about food whether its desserts, reviewing restaurants or just food in general. Those have always been my favorite types of magazines because they always encouraged me to try new foods and they usually included recipes. We also reviewed an example project in class on a magazine that reviewed restaurants. It was my favorite out of all of the other magazines and films. This is what helped me make my decision overall I am excited to start my magazine.

Film?

Film Production is something else that interests me. Creating a film seems like a very exciting project. Some of the things that we have done in class have really drawn my attention to film.  We watched the Newsroom and Blog samples. When we watched the Newsrooms and "Inside the Newsroom" it showed me different aspects of film making. Also, watching the film samples from previous projects were also really cool. Something that I feel I would be good at would be being the costume designer or the person who would film it. Design and film are things that interest me but being an actor in the film would be a struggle for me. If i chose this as my project I would need to be a part of a group or I would need people to be in my film as volunteers. This could definitely be a good option of me and there are many positive aspects that would come from this if i chose to do a film.

Magazine?

Print Journalism really interests me, we have done lots of things in class that have drawn me to consider to select a magazine for my project. Some of the things that really drew me in were the magazine analysis, and the magazine blog samples. We brought in magazines and broke them down to why they were written and what the purpose is and it helped me realize that creating a magazine could be a good choice. Looking at the blog samples also helped because I saw examples of magazines and how people got to create everything and one of the magazines that reviewed restaurants went at reviewed the place and took photos and that interests me because I have always liked photography. I feel that I am good at designing things so putting together a layout for my magazine would be something that would come easy to me. something that I might struggle with would be the writing part. I have never been that strong in the writing department but I have been working on my work choice skills and other writing skills to help me make sure that my writing would be professional. This project could be a good option for me because it would help me to develop writing skills and it would be fun for me because i like being able to design things and take photographs.
